How RiskGenius Handles Document Privacy

16232460205_b8d60fb6d2_k.jpgIf you have ever negotiated with me, you know that I start at a central point: what is fair? My contract law professor would laugh at me right now; she declared on the first day of class that there is no such thing as "fair." I disagree.  I believe that in life and business, we all have a sense of fairness. Whether we choose to follow that sense is the question.

With my fairness doctrine in mind, I wrote the following statement on RiskGenius and Document Privacy. The goal of this statement is to simply explain how your documents are protected and secured with RiskGenius.

Who has access to my documents and clauses?

You, the customer, have access to your Policy Documents and clauses. Your team can share your Policy Documents and clauses among themselves. But no other Riskgenius customers will be able to access or identify your Policy Documents or clauses.

Where are documents stored?

Your Policy Documents are stored in a Document Management System located on our cloud-based servers.  Each customer's Policy Documents are stored within its own customer space and secured by restrictive permissions.

Where are clauses stored?

When you upload a Policy Document, our algorithms automatically parse individual clauses.  Each customer's clauses are stored separately in our Document Management System, within the customer's private and secure space.

Where are the RiskGenius algorithms stored?

There are two types of algorithms used by the RiskGenius software:  Parsing Algorithms and Classification Algorithms.

When you upload a Policy Document, Parsing Algorithms break a Policy Document into individual clauses.  These algorithms are stored in the Document Parsing Subsystem portion of our cloud-based servers.

Once a Policy Document is parsed into clauses, our Categorization Algorithms identify and categorize the clauses.  These algorithms are stored in the Document Categorization Subsystem portion of our cloud-based servers.

Are Policy Documents or Clauses Ever Used to Improve Algorithms?

Yes. The RiskGenius team may use Policy Documents or Clauses in order to improve Parsing Algorithms or the Categorization Algorithms.  Only the RiskGenius team has access to these Algorithms and any contents of them.

When the RiskGenius team identifies a Policy Document that results in initial parsing errors, we may choose to create a new Parsing Algorithm for the document.  We simply use the Policy Document as a template to create the Parsing Algorithm.  This will never be shared or accessible to any customers.

When the RiskGenius team identifies a new clause that can improve the Categorization Algorithms, we may choose to include the clause in the Algorithm.  This means that the clause will then be stored in the Document Categorization Subsystem where it is unavailable to anyone but RiskGenius personnel.

Only the RiskGenius team has access to these algorithms and any contents of them.

Who has access to the RiskGenius algorithms?

Only the RiskGenius team has access to the RiskGenius algorithms and any content that subsists in the algorithms.  So if we include a clause from a Policy Document in one of our algorithms, Customers will not have access to that clause language, nor will the carrier be identifiable in any form whatsoever.  The clause simply becomes one of the millions of clauses in our algorithm index.
