What Can Collaboration Geniuses Teach the Insurance Industry?

Collaboration is power. I really believe that. But what do real life geniuses say about collaboration?
Let's start with Bill Gates. I wasn't surprised to hear him espouse the benefits of technology in creating collaboration:

The PC has improved the world in just about every area you can think of. Amazing developments in communications, collaboration and efficiencies. New kinds of entertainment and social media. Access to information and the ability to give a voice people who would never have been heard.

I found another great collaboration quote from a gentleman named Simon Mainwaring. He's an award winning marketer, and he wrote the book We First: How Brands and Consumers Use Social Media to Renew Capitalism and Build a Better World:

Creating a better world requires teamwork, partnerships, and collaboration, as we need an entire army of companies to work together to build a better world within the next few decades. This means corporations must embrace the benefits of cooperating with one another.

Mainwaring's quote regarding corporations cooperating is particularly interesting. In the insurance world, there are opportunities for more collaboration between insurance companies, agents, brokers and the customers they serve.
There's one more quote I would like to focus on. What are the obstacles to collaboration? Fear? A lot of our resistance to collaboration centers on the fact that we have never done it before, as the famous filmmaker Steven Spielberg points out:

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_testimonial admin_label="Testimonial" url_new_window="off" quote_icon="on" use_background_color="on" background_color="#f5f5f5" background_layout="light" text_orientation="left" use_border_color="off" border_color="#ffffff" border_style="solid"]

When I was a kid, there was no collaboration; it's you with a camera bossing your friends around. But as an adult, filmmaking is all about appreciating the talents of the people you surround yourself with and knowing you could never have made any of these films by yourself.

[/et_pb_testimonial][et_pb_text admin_label="Text" background_layout="light" text_orientation="left" use_border_color="off" border_color="#ffffff" border_style="solid"]The insurance world is generally not a collaborative environment. But what if?

What if collaboration was adopted within your insurance company?

What could you do?[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
